History Geisha Panama”s variety was originally collected from Coffee forests in Ethiopia in the 1930s. From there ,it was sent to the lyamungu research station in Tanzania and then taken to the tropical agricultural research and training center ( CATIE ) in central america in 1953 , where it is locates as Access T2722. The Coffee came to fame in 2005 when the Peterson family of boquete Chiriqui , Panamá , Hacienda La Esmaralda , entered the contest and auction “The best of Panama”. They are received exceptionally higth ratings and broke the Price record for the Green Coffee auction , selling for more tan 20 USD per pound. In 2008-2010, this variety began to be planted in Colombia, due to the low international prices , the exceptional quality cup and fame, today the variety has been sown in almost all of Colombia, in small quantities. Huila province it was the first region where this variety was planted, the height and the Colombian tropical climate helped the plant to develop very well. The benefit process carried out is common, pick up cherry beans, cherry by cherry , fermentation of 50 hours, washed and sun dried in the sun 100%. Experts say that Geisha is the best coffee in the world, it’s cup of the highest quality, which becomes an exotic coffee only acquired by the most demanding palates in the world.
